With Directive 2011/62/EU, the European Union launched its initiative against counterfeit medicines. Reliable serialisation and labeling systems for pharmaceutical manufacturers are intended to prevent the trade of illegal prescription drugs.
As a European pharmaceutical manufacturer, Lichtenheldt has very successfully implemented the serialisation obligation for all prescription drugs (Rx products) as of February 9, 2019. All products that are subject to serialisation at Lichtenheldt are packaged with unmistakable serial numbers and are made tamper-evident with sealing labels or glueing of the folding cartons.
In the meantime, 4 million serialised packages with bottles and tubes have been produced on 5 packaging lines, delivered to our satisfied customers and distributed to the European pharmacy markets.
Lichtenheldt works together with the partner arvato systems for the IT solution and with Wipotec-OCS as partner for the serialisation stations on the lines. The integration of other serialisation providers of our customers is warranted via the arvato software interface.
